How to make your own facial mask using ingredients found at home

Right after taking a shower, your pores are open and this is the best time to apply your mask.  Applying a mask in the evening is best as it is at this time that your skin is most in need of water.  I usually apply my mask around 10 pm, after I shower.  Only leave the mask on for 15 minutes.  Leaving it on longer than this may cause the mask to begin to dry, which can be damaging to your skin.  If you have oily skin that is prone to blackheads, I suggest also using a facial peel as this will pull out the built up impurities in your skin.

What kind of mask should I use?

The best masks are the ones you make yourself using natural products.  The good thing about this is that they are inexpensive.  The bad thing is that they require a little more effort to use.  To do this, you first need to buy some facial mask cloth.  Here in China, this is easy to get however in your country it may be a little bit more difficult.  You may need to improvise by using a very thin cloth (and when I saythin I mean very thin!) or extremely soft cheese cloth (if you can find some).

To mix a skin-nourishing mask, mix thoroughly:
-2 parts banana
-5 parts milk
-1 part water

Dip your fabric mask into this mixture until it is soaked.  Pull it out and let the excess drip off.  Apply it to your face and lay down for 15 minutes.  Using this regularly will help your skin to take on a more youthful look.  It is recommended to do this once per week.  This mask formula is OK for people with sensitive skin.

To mix a skin softening, purifying and smoothing mask, mix thoroughly:
-2 part apple
-1 part water
(If your skin is overly sensitive, add 1 part milk or a little olive oil.  If your skin is overly oily, add 1 part egg white.)

This mask can be used every 2 days.  After applying, be sure to wash your face thoroughly with water (no need to wash with face wash again as you should have already done this prior to applying the mask).

To mix a basic anti-wrinkling mask, mix thoroughly:
-2 parts olive oil (warmed slightly in the microwave)
-1 part natural honey

This mask is very natural and can be used every couple of days.  Follow the same procedures here as for the other masks.

To mix a skin firming and brightening mask, mix thoroughly:
-1 part yogurt
-1 part honey
-1 part squeezed lemon juice
-4 or 5 squeezed vitamin E capsules

This mask will also help slough away your older skin.  The lemon is slightly acidic so this mask should not be used more than once a week.

To mix a pimple-reducing mask, mix thoroughly:
-1 part crushed strawberries
-1 part skinless tomato

This mask can be used daily if needed.

For a black-eye or tired eyes rub cream, mix thoroughly:
-a few drops of chamomile leaf oil (the real stuff, you may need to go to a specialty store to find this)
-1 part wet cucumber seeds (taken from a fresh cucumber)

Apply to closed eyes at let soak for 15 minutes before washing thoroughly with water.
