When you are showering, don’t use water higher that 40 degrees Celsius. Water that is too hot will upset the natural oils on the surface of your skin and cause your body skin to dry up like a raisin. Use a very natural soap (baby soaps are usually fairly natural, or try picking up a natural bar from your local health store).
After getting out of the shower, add moisturizer all over your body within 3 minutes. It is important to add this moisturizer quickly as your skin has been opened by the hot water. Be sure to add additional moisturizer around your elbows and knees as these are areas that tend to age quickly. Apply the moisturizer lightly, in short circular motions.
When you are sleeping, it is vital you sleep on your back. Sleeping on your front does not allow your body to breath well and this will cause you to wrinkle prematurely on your neck. Also, sleeping face down in your pillow will cause your to wrinkle and your pores to clog. As I stated in a previous post, you need to sleep on your back to best avoid the wrinkling of your body skin. If this is an uncomfortable pose at first (as it was for me when I switched out of my bad teenage habits around the age of 20) rest assured that it gets easier with time. Actually, now that I have slept on my back for the better part of 7 years, I find I cannot sleep in any other pose! We really are creatures of habit!
As I have said before, going to the SPA is NOT the answer for good facial skin (unless it is a very natural SPA, which is rare in this day and age). However, SPA’s tend to have good body products and the relaxing atmosphere they put you in is also anti-aging. So treat yourself to a complete body treatment a few times every month.
Finally, your body’s skin is helped by sweating. Personally, I find saunas too hot to really be helpful for your skin, however light exercise can do wonders for your ‘glow’.
