A Chinese detoxifying soup recipe - black chicken soup


Find a black chicken from your local Chinese food store (the skin should naturally be black).  To make this soup you will also need:
-1/2 cup lotus seed
-1/2 cup Chinese dates
-1 cup Chinese yam (here are more details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dioscorea_opposita )
-2 L water
Put all ingredients (including your black chicken) and bring the water to a boil, the reduce heat and let simmer for at least 2 hours (a few hours longer is even better).  Add salt to taste.
Eating this soup hot will help pull impurities out of your body while giving you energy.  Eat a few small bowlfuls every couple of weeks.  Enjoy!
